I dropped my cell phone in the toilet.

 

Don't worry! 

I hadn't used the toilet before it plunked itself down into the abyss....

so nothing truly disgusting happened.

 

But my go-to for photos for the blog is currently drying out and I think it may be shot. 

So very annoying. 

Not exactly what I had in mind to do this weekend.

I hope my phone recovers completely from this little foray into scuba diving, but for now I'm just happy I can use it again, even though the WiFi seems to be hooped.

 

 

 

Day 162

I made this banner today.

 

Kinda weird making a "Happy New Year!" banner in June, eh?  Hear me out.

Friends of ours are committed to buying a gift for Christmas each year for the company White Elephant gift giving exchange.  Each year, she doesn't know what to get.  So I said I'd handle it for her this year.  I was at Pier One and got a Photo Booth Prop set on sale, and it's just ramped up from there.  I realized there weren't going to be any places selling the right banner at this time of year, so I printed out the letters, Mod Podged them, cut them out, adhered them to the triangles, punched holes and added wee grommets to the corners, threaded the whole thing together....presto!  Banner.

 

Day 161

I managed to get outside and water the front yard today...like the big front yard, not just the wee yard between the wooden fence and the house.  And I found a few things to take photos of....

not sure what this is...mint?

 

this creepy thing is long neck garlic...and all those seeds inside the bulb?  Yup, seeds for future long neck garlic.  You don't have to grow garlic just from the bulb that grows in the ground.  Cool, eh?

To say it's hot currently would be an understatement. 

When we got in the car yesterday, it said 36°C!  Yikes!!!!

 

So I thought this would be fitting....a stairway down into a pit of lava. 

At least, that's what I see.

Maybe because I'm too hot.

Working on my brother & sister-in-law's place this weekend.  So happy they've got a place to call their own and their grabbing this opportunity to make it theirs before they move all their stuff in.

I really like this one.  I'm such a huge fan of layering warm over cool or cool over warm. 

The extra zip of the yellow was a happy accident on this,

and I really like how it doesn't quite reach the horizon of the orange.

 

I was trying to add something to it that more "realist" but I just couldn't do it.  So I'm not really stepping out of my box here.  But I created something, and that's the point, so we'll call it a 'win'.
